This collection of photographs, whose significance and coherence stem as much from Lacroix’s expert eye as from his need to constantly enrich his own creative work with new images, forms, and colors, covers a fairly broad aesthetic spectrum, ranging from scenes of everyday life by Véronique Ellena and Guillaume Janot to the poetic and offbeat approaches to fashion photography by Sarah Moon and Grégoire Alexandre. The face of Christian Lacroix, as the emblem and embodiment of his fashion house for over twenty years, is also a recurring subject, interpreted by Annie Leibovitz, Paolo Roversi, Mario Testino, and Erwin Wurm, among others. The exhibition, presented within the permanent collections and echoing the themes explored there—the heroic figure, the portrait, the body, etc.—also highlights works from the museum’s photographic collection, which has been enriched in recent years, through Christian Lacroix, with important works by Nancy Wilson-Pajic and Katerina Jebb.
