Pour le Tchad (For Chad) (1975–1978) is a collection of photographs taken by Marie-Laure de Decker (1947–2023) during several trips to the country. While covering the kidnapping of archaeologist Françoise Claustre by Frolinat revolutionaries, the French photojournalist discovered a society in the throes of civil war and gradually became committed to the rebels’ fight for independence. Taking a long-term approach, she took portraits of the combatants and scenes of everyday life among the inhabita
